Enable SSH

WARNING: Enabling SSH can compromise the security of your server if a poor password is chosen.

Enable SSH

To enable SSH on the Untangle Server:

  • Connect a keyboard/mouse to the Untangle Server and open up the Terminal. The first time the terminal is opened it will ask you to set a root password. This password is not the administration password.
  • Open Config->Network->Advanced->Filter Rules.
  • Check the "Allow SSH" Rule.
  • Hit Apply.

Disable SSH

To disable SSH on the Untangle Server.

  • Open Config->Network->Advanced->Filter Rules.
  • Uncheck the "Allow SSH" Rule.
  • Hit Apply.
