Look-and-Feel

• The product has now been branded “Untangle” to coincide with the rename of the Metavize!
• Many Software Appliances (now called “products”) have been renamed
• New look and feel to buttons and panels of the client
• There are new icons for config panel subsections, and the duplicate icons have been removed from product faceplates

New Features

• A ping tester has been added under config->support to test basic connectivity
• Launching the client and utilities when connected directly to the Untangle server is now done with a launch bar.
• An interface tester has been added to view your ethernet connectivity
• All non-read only users can now remove Administration accounts

Active Directory

• New Active Directory integration allows administrators to set policies and view some product reports by user.
• A test button has been added to verify Active Directory Settings.

PPPoE Support

• PPPoE is now supported on the external port for users connecting to their ISP via PPPoE

Software Download

• The Untangle Platform can now be downloaded as a CD ISO, and installed on any server meeting the requirements
• The software download has a special installer that qualifies the server’s hardware and installs the Untangle platform.

Policy Manager

• Custom policies can now be configured by time of day and day of week
• Custom policies can now be configured via AD user
• “All” is an option under Interface for a custom policy rule
• Policy rules can now be edited and created in a pop-up

Routing

• The Untangle Server can now optionally route packets in and back out the same interface without being processed, allowing for more complicated network setups.

Spam Blocker

• Added Optical Character Resolution (OCR) to detect “image-spam.”
• Re-tuned the spam levels to more appropriate levels
• Spam now phones home daily for spam tuning updates
• Quarantine now shows date and size of emails
• Quarantine is now sortable by column for easier searching
• Tarpitting has been added as a feature to slow down spam (off by default)

Untangle Reports

• Added a per-user and per-IP bandwidth usage report under “Activity Summary”
• Added a per-user and per-IP Spyware Blocker report
• Added a per-user and per-IP Web Content Control report
• Added a per-user and per-IP Rogue Protocol Control report
• Reports now run much faster

Web Content Control

• The look and feel of the block page has been improved
• A “Dating” category has been added

Remote Access Portal

• Portal users can now edit bookmarks
• Quarantine link is now provided for portal users
• Several usability improvements, such as wait indicators and better error reporting

Spyware Blocker

• The look and feel of the block page has been improved
• A configurable “request pass” button has been added to spyware block page, allowing users to pass after a warning
• A configurable “unblock” button has also been added to permanently passlist sites. (off by default)
• The activity meters on the faceplate have been revised

OpenVPN

• The client now shows the local IP received by each user in the clients tab
